As a member of the Business Services Team and reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Financial Analyst provides accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis for internal users, including on-going review of the budget, payroll and financial performance in order to forecast year end results and allow teams to alter their spending patterns where necessary/possible. This position is accountable to ensure all budget dollars flowing through the general ledger meet Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and related legislative regulations.Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce
Working towards or has attained a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA)
Three years of previous experience in a related field
Advanced proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications
Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
Strong knowledge of fiscal management, business finance, and capital funding
Ability to plan, analyze, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
Strong attention to detail
High level of integrity and work ethic
Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
