Acting Assistant Principal of Ponoka Secondary Campus
Effective November 25, 2024 to June 30, 2025 Ponoka Secondary Campus has a school staff of approximately twenty-five teachers and seven support staff. It serves around 540 students by providing a learning environment using innovative and collaborative educational practices for grades 7 through 12.
The acting assistant principal selection committee seeks an innovative and visionary leader with an excellent background as a classroom teacher and administrator in grade 7 through 12 environments.
The ideal candidate will possess exemplary interpersonal skills and a commitment to building and promoting a collaborative environment. The new acting assistant principal of Ponoka Secondary Campus will be expected to continue to build on a proud tradition where the school actively partners with its community in developing the best educational experience possible for students. Therefore, the ideal candidate will possess the following: Evidence of exemplary interpersonal skills
Evidence of a commitment towards building and promoting collaborative environments.
Evidence of establishing structures and supports focused on concurrent academic and social/emotional interventions
Evidence of leadership experience with diverse students.
Evidence of experience working with First Nations, Mtis & Inuit families and communities.
Evidence of strong foundational knowledge about First Nations, Mtis & Inuit for the benefit of all students.
Evidence of a thorough understanding and application of current educational research.
Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate evidence of significant progress toward or achievement of a Master of Education degree within the first three years of their assistant principal position.
Evidence of high expectations for student achievement, literacy assessment, and effective literacy programming and interventions.
Evidence of a commitment to leading and supporting professional development and school improvement initiatives aligned with jurisdictional and provincial directions.
Evidence of a thorough understanding of how technology can be used to facilitate learning.
Evidence of successful experience as an assistant principal or principal.The successful candidate must be committed to ongoing professional development and school improvement initiatives and demonstrate a thorough understanding of how technology can be used to facilitate learning. The Acting Assistant Principal of Ponoka Secondary Campus will also be expected to participate effectively within the Wolf Creek Administrators Association and demonstrate a strong commitment toward our school district vision.
