Reporting to the Director of Operations, or designate, the Transportation Coordinator is the first point of contact with the Divisions transportation provider (First Student) and will liaison with them to provide the best possible busing experience for all Division students, including ensuring buses are running efficiently and on time. The Transportation Coordinator must have strong interpersonal skills as the job requires a commitment to working with others to optimize service to the Grande Prairie Public School Divisions staff, students, and community.

Duties include but are not limited to: Provide administrative and transportation support services to the Division.

Support the Director of Operations, or designate, to manage the ongoing daily operations of transportation and special projects.

Oversee the distribution of bus passes including tracking and payments.

Create bus seating plans for all Division students.

Manage and respond to public questions and concerns, including complaint investigation and resolution.

Liaise with the busing contractor (First Student) to resolve transportation concerns for student services.

Liaise with schools, parents, and students to resolve concerns.

Assist with designing bus routes and route surveys. Update bus routes and changes online.

Manage and update the internal and external transportation websites including the maintenance of a computerized routing system.

Develop and maintain a well-organized electronic filing system that permits easy reference and rapid retrieval of information.

Ensure that the Division stays current and compliant with applicable legislation, policies, procedures, and regulations.

Liaise with School Administration to review policies and procedures as required.

Conduct bus reviews as necessary.

Complete and submit applicable transportation grant funding applications.

Liaise with the Safety Coordinator to develop safety programs and regulation of Occupational Health and Safety requirements relating to student safety.

Support other maintenance operations as required including answering phones and cross training with the other Maintenance Department staff (Custodial Coordinator and Executive Assistant).Qualifications and skills: Completion of a two-year Administrative Diploma.

Five or more years of experience as an Executive Assistant, Transportation Coordinator, or related role. Preference will be given to candidates with school division experience.

Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Suite software and website management.

Ability to display professionalism and tactfulness in high pressure situations including conflict resolution.
