Application Deadline: 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 19, 2024 Teacher of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing The Teacher of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing uses strength-based and trauma informed approaches and a universal design framework to support elementary and secondary classroom teachers and support staff working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.The Teacher of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing collaborates with classroom teachers to support student success in the classroom environment including providing access to specialized equipment. This teacher provides individualized instruction in areas such as social skill development, listening skills and various communication skills. Additionally, based on the students individual strengths and stretches, provides individualized opportunities for students to develop the core competencies.The Teacher of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing acts as case manager, developing and implementing education plans such as Individual Education Plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans. This teacher enables students access to prevention and intervention related supports and services as per students social, emotional, physical, mental well-being. This teacher coordinates specialized services for the student and family and liaises with Learning Services personnel and outside agencies in support of students and families.

Qualifications Diploma or Masters in the area of Inclusive Education with a specialization in the education of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Successful elementary or secondary level teaching experience. Experience using a strength-based approach and a UDL framework to enable student access to curriculum learning in the classroom environment. Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans. Current CPI training an asset.All required documents must be submitted in your application which include:
