Risk Management Advisor

100% Regular

Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week

Union Exempt Level 7: $86,632 to $101,957 The Risk Management Advisor is the key official responsible for identifying and assessing risk, and developing risk mitigation strategies. The Advisor will provide risk management advice to risk owners and other stakeholders in order to reduce operational risk or exposure and to mitigate risk to the organization and minimize the risk of harm to students, staff and district property; Administers the Districts liability, property, vehicle fleet, cyber, boiler and asset/equipment insurance programs, including providing claims management support; and leads the development, implementation and long term maintenance of the Strategic Enterprise Risk Management program and the Business Continuity Plan.Note: Incumbent may be required to occasionally respond to after-hours emergencies. Qualifications Post-secondary degree in a related field and 5-6 years of experience in corporate or commercial insurance and risk management or a related field. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Chartered Insurance Professional or a Canadian Risk Management designation is an asset.

Experience in processing insurance claims and risk identification and assessment is required.

Knowledge of insurance, risk management, assessment and mitigation and claims processing and administration.

Experience developing and implementing a Strategic Enterprise Risk Management Program, and familiarity with the ISO 31000 Risk Management Standard is an asset.

Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures for insurance and risk management.

Excellent communication skills required in order to respond, clarify or request pertinent information from others, either in writing or through verbal conversations, and must demonstrate interpersonal qualities to establish and maintain effective working relationships, including using sensitivity and empathy with affected stakeholders.

Ability to use tact, diplomacy and discretion is required.

Capacity to respond to emergencies and deal with stressful situations.

Organizational skills as well as time management techniques for organizing, planning and prioritizing work, multiple demands and meeting deadlines.

Research and analytical skills for investigating claims, gathering and reporting on findings.

Proficient in computer technology, including word processing, databases and spreadsheets software in order to accomplish daily work activities.
