American Sign Language Level 201 or higher is required This position provides support through a multi-sensory approach in language and all academic areas, enabling children to achieve maximum potential. The incumbent provides support to student(s) who are deaf or hard of hearing in the regular classroom and resource room setting. The successful candidate requires the ability to work as a team member with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Assists in the reinforcement of American Sign Language (ASL) skills
Provides assistance and support to students within the integrated classroom and resource room settings (e.g. clarifies verbal instructions, checks comprehension of class information, reviews and reinforces concepts)
Assists in implementing programming to individual or small groups of children under the direction of the teacher of the deaf, classroom teacher, speech/language pathologist or others (includes work on IEP goals)
Maintains detailed records of student progress and behaviour
Checks and troubleshoots students amplification equipment
Dedication to anti-racism, equity, and diversity

Proven ability to build collaborated cultures founded on integrity and collective purpose
Other duties when requiredQualifications:
Complete secondary education or equivalent related experience
American Sign Language Level 201 or higher is required
Previous experience working or interacting with deaf and hard of hearing persons
