Invites applications for the position of: Lead and Manager, Psychological Services

Position Summary :

Under the general direction of the Superintendent of Education: Exceptional Learners, the Lead and Manager, Psychological Services is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of Psychological Services initiatives across York Catholic District School Board.

In addition, the Lead and Manager, Psychological Services motivates, manages and leads a professional team and as a member of the Student Services Management Team and the Board's Senior Management Team, contributes sound knowledge and expertise regarding Psychological Services to support the Board's key initiatives. Major Responsibilities : Manage, motivate and lead a team of psychological professionals, providing consultation on complex case issues and implementing professional development initiatives.

Exercise leadership in the development, deployment and execution of the Board's strategic and operational plans for the Psychology Department providing services consistent with the direction and vision established by the Student Services Department and School Board.

Develop, implement, review and refine department policies, procedures and documentation as well as Board strategies and initiatives that relate to Psychological Services.

Provide reports to superintendent, School Board, and/or Ministry of Education regarding services provided by the Psychology Department.

Consult with staff regarding complex psychological assessments as well as attend and actively participate in multi-disciplinary Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) meetings, Threat Management meetings, IPRC and school meetings as required.

Provide consultation services to Board staff, parents and external professionals regarding students with complex social, emotional, behavioural and/or intellectual needs as required.

Promote and develop effective partnerships with various internal and external stakeholders regarding the provision of service(s).

Develop and maintain an annual operating budget for the Psychology Department.

Provide expertise and leadership in the development of and implementation of crisis response protocols, VTRA and mental health strategies.

Committee membership as appropriate (e.g., YCDSB Mental Health Leadership Team, YCDSB Research Committee, etc.). Qualifications and Experience :

Ph.D. or Doctorate in Psychology and registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO); declared areas of competency in school psychology (required), clinical psychology (preferred) and counselling psychology (preferred) with children and adolescents.

7-10 years of both School Board and clinical experience with children and adolescents. Thorough knowledge and understanding of provincial legislation, as well as the standards, ethics and guidelines for registered psychologists (CPO). Leadership experience effectively managing and mentoring psychology professionals.

Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.

Exceptional interpersonal and conflict management skills. ?Experience with managing Electronic Health Records. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge and understanding of School Board operations.
