School Finance Coordinator

One (1) Permanent Full-Time Position

Exempt Level 6 $72,810 to $92,459 per annum Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager, Financial Reporting and School Finance, the School Finance Coordinator will be responsible for providing school-based support and guidance for Schools in the administration of School Generated Funds and General School Budgets to ensure adherence to Board Policies and Procedures. The School Finance Coordinator will perform school audits and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the Boards school finance systems and processes.

In addition, the School Finance Coordinator will support the Boards Registered Charity Programs and ensure that SAP configurations changes and upgrades related to school banking are maintained. Major Responsibilities: Provides training and guidance to Administrators and School Support Staff on all financial matters relating to School Generated Funds and General School Budget to ensure adherence to Board Administrative Procedures and Ministry Guidelines. This includes development and presentation of training and resource materials on financial matters.

Oversees and monitors General School Budgets and School Generated Funds expenditures and reporting as well as updating and implementing associated processes and guidelines.

Support the schools in utilizing the cashless online system in administering school generated fund activities, including creating templates and training documentations and troubleshooting.

Perform School Finance audit and control testing initiatives with development and implementing review procedures that includes school generated funds, use of school budget and purchasing cards.

Oversees the Boards registered charity programs that includes approving expenditure requests and preparing year end reports and tax information. Approve and support fundraising activities at schools including preparing various reports as required.

Coordinating and facilitating SAP configuration changes and upgrades related to school banking that include system testing and revising associated processes.

Qualifications and Experience: University degree/college diploma in Business or Finance

Minimum 5 years previous experience (preferably in school board)

Superior knowledge of SAP applications especially School banking module

Knowledge of School-Day Cashless School System

Knowledge and understanding of PSAB and school board accounting would be definite assets

Skills and Competencies: Strong analytical skills, ability to multi-task and attention to detail

Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and accounting system applications

Strong knowledge of SAP would be an asset

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Excellent verbal and written communications skills
