Pembina Hills School Division invites applications for a Student Transportation Assistant to provide support on the bus to an individual student with diverse needs.

Barrhead Composite High School

Located approximately 120 km northwest of Edmonton, Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS), is a grade 7-12 school.

The Position

In the capacity as Student Transportation Assistant, the successful candidate must be a self-directed team player who is interested in providing support and encouragement to a student with a diversity of learning needs.

Support is required daily between the Barrhead area and Barrhead Composite High School in the morning and the afternoon. Pick up and drop off details and hours/day will be discussed in the interview. Duties are to commence April 2, 2024 and will end June 27, 2024.

Qualifications Experience working with behaviorally challenged and non-verbal students would be an asset

Ability to set clear boundaries, communicate effectively and efficiently and work independently

Ability to work in a flexible learning environment

Ability to establish positive relationships to support students in grades 7-12

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults

Must demonstrate the ability to work as a member of the school team, taking direction from the classroom teacher, special education lead teacher, and consultants

Enthusiastic and motivated to help students succeed

SIVA training would be an asset
