Invites Expression of Interest for the following positions SLIFE LEAD

2024-2025 School Year with a possibility of extension Comp. # 24-133 Based out of the Bathurst Education Centre Description and Responsibilities: SLIFE Leads contribute to the education and sense of belonging of learners in inclusive schools and classrooms by: meeting with school-based ESS teams in middle and high schools, including the team member representing EAL (e.g., EST-EAL) to identify students who are SLIFE.

establishing and maintaining monthly goal setting sessions with SLIFE identified above (e.g, by using tools like the Pathways Planning Package for New New Brunswickers).

working collaboratively with district and EECD teams to create curriculum for SLIFE (e.g., specific high school content area courses).

providing professional learning to the teachers of courses developed specifically for SLIFE, and co-planning/co-teaching in these courses as capacity continues to build for serving this unique group.

liaising with Settlement Workers in the Schools (SWIS), Intercultural Support Workers (ISWs), and/or transition coaches to facilitate community connections and career connected learning opportunities.

providing professional learning to classroom teachers on language acquisition and scaffolds for SLIFE and experienced MLLs.

liaising with Settlement Workers in the Schools (SWIS), Intercultural Support Workers (ISWs), and/or transition coaches to facilitate community connections and career connected learning opportunities.

providing professional learning to classroom teachers on language acquisition and scaffolds for SLIFE and experienced MLLs.

working collaboratively with district and EECD teams to update, clarify, and rejuvenate the purpose and use of the Literacy Development Plan in the NSTP.

assisting school-based ESS teams in middle and high school, including the member representing EAL (e.g., EST-EAL) with the implementation and monitoring of the Literacy Development Plans.

assisting school-based ESS teams in middle and high schools, including the team member representing EAL (e.g., EST-EAL) in collecting baseline data for SLIFE.

participating in ongoing professional learning and as a member of a provincial community of practice.

supporting learner, family/caregiver, and community advocacy.

providing direct support, as identified by EAL Coordinators.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education, CTESL or equivalent EAL accreditation, trauma invested training, minimum of five years experience working with SLIFE.Subject to the response of this competition, education and/or experience requirements may be changed.
