IT Security Analyst
Manager of Information Technology Services
WORK LOCATION AND WORK TIME(S): Catholic Education Centre and Designated Board sites, with frequent travel to all schools and sites as required
Works a regular thirty-five hour  week, Monday to Friday, 12 months; possible after hours/weekends as required
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is seeking an IT Security Analyst. The IT Security Analyst is accountable to the Manager of Information Technology Services and is responsible to provide leadership, resource support, guidance/counsel and training for information technology security across the Board.
Given the central nature of Business Services, it is imperative the IT Security Analyst works in collaboration and cooperation with schools and other departments to build and execute security oversight mechanisms of the Board to make certain that efficient and effective practices are active.PREREQUISITES FOR POSITION: Diploma in Information Technology Networking, Security or related field or equivalent.
Minimum of five (5) years related IT experience including supporting enterprise networks or information systems security and implementing best practices for improved efficiencies. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certificate. Candidates currently working towards certification will also be considered.
Excellent planning and organizational skills with experience in the effective management of multiple projects and demonstrated ability to successfully complete tasks.
Demonstrate personal initiative, sound judgement, strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills with the ability to function effectively and collaboratively with various employee groups and outside agencies.
Strong analytical skills with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
Working knowledge of the O365 Security and Compliance centres, Tenable IO security software and experience in securing an O365 environment.
Familiarity and understanding of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) frameworks Valid driver license and vehicle.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS: Monitor Board networks (school and office) for security breaches and investigate violations as necessary. Establish and maintain district Cyber Security Response Plan and be a key member of district Cyber Security Response Team.
Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing solutions to improve overall enterprise security.
Perform technical IT security evaluations, network penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and coordinate the execution of these within the corporate context, as well as oversee the remediation activities associated with vulnerability findings.
Monitor and research current trends of malware and intrusions and recommend enhancements to current security protection systems.
Recommend Information Technology security and emergency measures policies and procedures.
Maintain and operate information security technologies including, but not limited to, Network Intrusion Prevention Systems, Enterprise Anti-Virus Systems, Enterprise Host Intrusion Prevention Systems, Firewalls, Patch Management Systems, End Point Encryption, and Security Incident Management Systems.
Monitor firewall logs, intrusion prevention logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity.
Recommend, schedule, and apply fixes and security patches to information security technologies and end-user computing devices as necessary.
Assist in overseeing the creation and monitoring of policies, procedures and associated plans for information security and access controls based on industry best practice and managerial direction.
Participates in both project and operationally focused initiatives regarding end user security protection technologies and implementing standards/processes.
Operationalize Internal Audit, Compliance, and security architectural guidelines, standards, for IT Security, implementing and communicating standard tools and practices.
Participate in selected sub-committees of the IT Governance Council and IT Audit Committee Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Information Technology Services.
