STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT CONSULTANT:

CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION K-8

1.0 FTE (1 Position)

Term Position:

September 1, 2024 for up to 3 years (June 30, 2027) - subject to annual budget approval and/or annual system organization and Ministry funding continuance.

Position Summary:

The Student Achievement Consultant: Curriculum and Instruction will be responsible for promoting and implementing literacy and numeracy strategies and instructional practices that improve student learning across the curriculum. The Student Achievement Consultant will be responsible for supporting system literacy and numeracy initiatives in the Primary, Junior and Intermediate Divisions. The Student Achievement Consultant will work collaboratively with the Student Achievement Leader: School Effectiveness K-12 and be responsible to the Superintendent of Education (Curriculum).

Qualifications:

Basic* : Primary and Junior Divisions

Additional : Intermediate Qualifications;

Reading and/or Mathematics (specialist preferred)

Experience : Minimum of five (5) years teaching in the elementary panel

Other : - Deep knowledge of research-based instructional strategies;

- Demonstrated ability to lead small groups of educators in developing teaching/learning best practices as they relate to literacy and numeracy in the Primary, Junior and Intermediate Divisions;

- Demonstrated leadership skills;

- Strong interpersonal, communication, skills;

- Demonstrated understanding of effective assessment practices (e.g. Growing Success);

- Ability to incorporate technology into teaching/learning opportunities; and

- Excellent presentation and team-building skills.

The

Student Achievement Consultant: Curriculum & Instruction K-8 will be responsible for the coordination of curriculum initiatives, related programs and professional development. The Student Achievement Consultant: Curriculum & Instruction K-8 will coordinate and lead professional learning sessions for principals and elementary educators, with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy and will act as the system contact for additional elementary curriculum areas. The Student Achievement Consultant: Curriculum & Instruction K-8 may be assigned other duties as directed by the Superintendent of Education (Curriculum).
