Non-Union Position: Project Manager, Maintenance & Operations - Technical

$71,032.00 - $92,340.00, commensurate with experience.

SUMMARY:

The Project Manager Maintenance & Operations, is responsible for managing all UCDSB buildings environmental systems, building automation, life safety, intrusion alarms, emergency code warning systems, building plant defect alarms, telephone & intercom systems, building access control systems, and video surveillance systems. The position is also responsible for designing and implementing preventative and scheduled maintenance plans, adherence to municipal, provincial and federal agencies codes and regulations, and managing tenders for annual mandates. Supervision of facilities staff, as required.QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

Technologist Diploma or 2-3 years of electrical and mechanical engineering technician experience.

Ontario Fire Alarm Technician Certification is preferred.

Previous project management training and experience.

A

minimum of 4-5 years of experience. SKILLS REQUIRED: Specific knowledge of: Electrical (and Electronics), Mechanical, and Environmental engineering technician discipline

Computers and software, especially multi-layered building automation and central station software

Fire and building codes

General knowledge of the technology industry and relevant products

Competencies:

Ability to coordinate and plan a range of related work and project activities.

Ability to provide advice to others (e.g. troubleshooting)

Ability to design and develop new protocol

Project management skills

Effective leadership skills BRIEF LIST OF DUTIES: Responds to technology (e.g. building automation, HVAC, fire alarms, P.A., intercoms, telephones) related requests such as installations, maintenance, service & inspections, control system access, and upgrades.

Monitor energy use and performance, maintain an energy database and ongoing audit procedures, including the preparation of appropriate reports as required, and to recommend operational changes to improve energy efficiency.

Provides daily checks to intrusion systems, early detection systems and central stations including troubleshooting.

Ensures that fire alarms are tested and meet the fire code.

Responds to quotation requests for equipment, parts and service, issues requisition and receiving reports.

Central station data and record management.

Other

Provides support to other project managers

Directly responsible for supervision of facilities staff.

May be required to provide guidance, direction, project team leadership, performance management, task delegation, recruitment, organization and coordination of others, act as a technical mentor and put to use the multiple skills of others under changing circumstances.

Provides technical advice and review to other departments

WORKING CONDITIONS:

At times the position works in a typical office environment. However, the position is also exposed to various unpleasant working conditions.

The position is exposed to loud levels of noise (e.g. fire alarm testing which occurs two times per week). Additionally, the position is frequently exposed to vibrations, heat, and cold.

May be required to wear safety boots, hard hat, safety vest, glasses and hearing protection, and follow various safety precautions when on site.
