POSITION TITLE: Finance Coordinator; Program Support

The Finance Coordinator is responsible for developing budgets and forecasts, conducting financial research, providing the department with statistical information, analyzing financial information (e.g. operating revenue expenses), monitoring reports and tracking operational projects. Other activities include: maintaining documentation and reports for various analyses (i.e. cost, variance, and project), validating and correcting data, reporting on Ministry grants, ensuring compliance with Ministry and Board directives.QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience:

Must possess an undergraduate degree and have a professional accounting designation. A minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience is required.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Specific knowledge of: Technical accounting principles and procedures

Procedures for processing and analyzing financial information such as financial reports and schedules

Competencies: Ability to edit and format documents such as status reports

Ability to analyze and report financial information

Ability to prioritize and organize work

BRIEF LIST OF DUTIES: Documentation and Research Populates templates, provides guidance and feedback and track completion (content and timelines)

Retrieve, extract, and gather budget information for analysis and reconciliation

Update and maintain functional areas budget summary files with current financial data

Validate accuracy of data for the department and corrects anomalies. Implements controls to minimize occurrence of errors

Monitoring and Analysis Performs financial forecasting and reporting, including research and analysis

Conducts budget and actual cost analysis and maintains documentation and reports on relevant statistical information, cost analysis, variance analysis and project analysis

Monitors, documents, and analyzes trends and costs, and recommends improvements for cost efficiencies and improved controls

Reporting Respond to financial issues/questions including recommendations for improvements

Produce ad hoc internal and external reports

Comprehends and reports on any Ministry grants and ensures compliance with Ministry and Board directives

OTHER: Works with other team members to develop, improve and maintain management information systems
