Due to a shortage of substitute teachers, successful candidates can get regular work across the jurisdiction *Opportunities regularly arise for temporary and short-term teaching positions throughout the year *Mileage is paid ($0.50/km) to substitute teachers when travel is required outside of his/her residing community and is based on the nearest grasslands location to the teacher Job Duties and Responsibilities: follow the normal schedule of the teacher who is absent from duties

follow lesson plans provided by the teacher

provide instruction competently to students and teach the courses of study and education programs that are prescribed

encourage and foster learning in students maintain, under the direction of the principal, a healthy and safe learning environment for students while they are in the school or on the school grounds and while they are attending or participating in activities sponsored or approved by the board; adhere to the same roles and responsibilities as any other classroom teacher as defined by the Education Act and the Teaching Profession Act

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: strong instruction and classroom management skills

excellent communication and organizational skills

personal integrity and trustworthiness

able to establish trust and rapport with students

respect and value for diversity and individuals

Educational Requirements and Certifications: Bachelor of Education

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
