Reporting to the Superintendent of Special Education Services, the Senior Manager, Child & Youth Counsellor (CYC) is a dynamic leader who works effectively in a Catholic School Board environment. The Senior Manager, CYC is responsible for the quality of the child and youth counsellor services within the Halton Catholic District School Board. This position involves the hiring, supervision, deployment, clinical case supervision and performance monitoring of the Child and Youth Counsellor staff (in conjunction with Human Resources Services). The Senior Manager, CYC will work collaboratively with Special Education Consultants, all other Senior Managers; Coordinator for Special Education Services and other system leaders; develop and conduct in-service programs, workshops and presentations as deemed necessary and appropriate to promote professional development for all staff groups as part of the Senior Management Leadership Team.

Qualifications / Experience Qualified applicants must have a Masters degree in Child and Youth Work. Must be a member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care.

Minimum of five (5) years of related experience. Experience working in a School Board or in a similarly relevant environment is an asset.

Excellent management, organizational, leadership, interpersonal skills as well as presentation skills both written and verbal.

Proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Strong knowledge and proven experience with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.

Effective communication skills in dealing with stakeholders of school communities.

Expert knowledge of targeted mental health programming and its application in the school setting.

Expert knowledge in evidence based and evidence informed universal prevention and intervention programs/services with a focus on mental health.

Experience in developing and facilitating professional learning programs on mental health for both students and adult learners.

Working knowledge of the Youth Justice Act, Ontario Human Rights, Workplace Safety, Information and Privacy Commission of Ontario, Office of the Childrens Lawyers and applicable Ministry of Education PPMs i.e. Collaborative Partnership 149

Knowledge and understanding of the role of Ministry of Education's School Mental Health Ontario and the collaboration and partnership with community agencies, treatment centers, and health care facility

Awareness of the mission of Catholic Schools with the ability to navigate the complexities of providing mental health support and programming for children in a faith-based organization.Please be advised as a condition of employment with the Board, candidates will be required to provide the following documentation upon hire: an original Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening, dated within the last six (6) monthsEquity and Inclusion
