Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.FSD is located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy and the first peoples of southern Alberta including the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuutina, and Stoney Nakoda First Nations. This land is also the proud home to the Mtis Nation of Alberta Region 3. FSD stretches from the city of Calgary's southern border and east of Kananaskis Country in Foothills County. The Role

Forming part of Round 3 of the staffing cycle for the 2023/2024 school year, we welcome all interested candidates to apply. Teaching at a Hutterian Brethren colony school is a unique and challenging role. The teacher works in a culturally specific community with families and students who are English Language Learners. Foothills Hutterite Colony Schools are multi-aged and multi-graded classrooms. They thrive within a Christian- based rural, farming community, each colony having its own identity. The school is a small facility on colony property. Access to technology is limited and varies at each colony site. Cayley and MacMillan Colonies are West of the hamlet of Cayley. High River Colony School is located South of the hamlet of Blackie. We are seeking a teacher who has:

Appropriate educational training and experience teaching the Alberta curricula;

A strong understanding of outcomes-based assessment practices;

Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of a professional learning community;

A commitment to building relationships with students and families to create a safe, caring and welcoming learning environment;

A strong belief in parent involvement and regular communication with the home;

Ability to develop relationships with German school teacher;

Strong organizational and classroom management skills;

A culturally sensitive individual;

An ability to ensure success for students (K-9) where both academic success and social-emotional learning and highly valued;

Experience teaching with strong evidence of implementing excellence in literacy and numeracy foundations for students;

Experience teaching English Language Learners;

The Candidate

Your teaching practice includes the ability to design and plan learning activities that transfer and develop thinking competencies. Further, your practice assesses individual student variables to inform the design of meaningful and experiential learning opportunities and effective assessment practice.As an employee of Foothills School Division, your ability to foster effective professional relationships with students, families, staff and community is critical. You demonstrate a willingness to engage in extra-curricular activities and support students in the whole school experience that characterizes effective schools. Your capacity to integrate technologies and support experiential learning that connects students to community resources within Maker-centered learning, CTF and CTS learning environments is evident.
