The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is a nationally incorporated charity with chapters in 13 cities across Canada. We are currently seeking an Educational Assistant (EA) for the lower elementary classes to join our team at the MAC Islamic School in Calgary, Alberta.

Teacher's Aide Job Description

Under the direction of the Teacher, the following is required: Provides educational instruction for students

Provides input into planning the students Individual Program Plan

Participates as a member of the students learning team in periodic meetings with the students, parents/guardians to review goals and develop revisions. Collects data to support student growth and IPP development

Maintains an effective professional working relationship within the students learning team by providing suggestions to the Teacher based on experience and knowledge of the students, with respect to ways to help the students reach their goals

Facilitates and encourages the development of the students self-esteem and independence through established programs and techniques deemed appropriate for the individual student

Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interaction

Ensures the safety of students in the school which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring student equipment is sanitized and put away properly

Maintains confidentiality

Works with students in a variety of settings in the school, including assisting in the supervision of students at breaks , outside or on field trips as required

Assists with and sanitizing educational tools and clean up in the classroom resulting from spills and other accidents

Performs other duties as required by teacher or administration Qualifications Completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate or recognized certificate as an Educational Aide

Other equivalent combinations of directly related education and directly related experience may also be considered

Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates (is an asset ) Reliability and dependability Personal integrity and trustworthiness
