Position Overview:

As a Engineering and Technology Teacher at Capstone Engineering Academy, you will be at the forefront of shaping the educational experience for students in Grades 1-12. Your responsibilities extend beyond delivering STEM classes to various schools in Calgary; they also involve creating a safe and enriching learning environment, closely aligned with Alberta curriculum standards. All Capstone positions receive full benefits and a pension plan.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Develop comprehensive course rubrics, syllabi, unit plans, and homework materials to ensure an engaging and well-structured learning experience.

Lesson Planning: Create detailed lesson plans with clear objectives that adhere to Alberta curriculum standards, ensuring students' academic progress and success.

Specialized Courses: Proficiently to teach a range of engineering and technology classes, including Programming, Engineering, Robotics, and more. .

Curriculum Oversight: Supervise and continually assess the effectiveness of the curriculum, making necessary adjustments to enhance students' learning experiences.

Parent and Administrator Engagement: Engage in productive communication with parents and school administrators regarding students' progress, concerns, and achievements. Prepare for and attend parent-teacher interviews and other school-related functions.

Assessment and Reporting: Conduct both formal and informal assessments of students, including report card preparation, progress reports, and grading. Provide timely and constructive feedback to facilitate student growth.

Student Well-being: Take responsibility for the health, safety, well-being, and overall happiness of young students, including the ability to administer first aid when necessary.

Classroom Management: Maintain high standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within the classroom. Foster a positive rapport and guide students toward successful participation in all course activities.

Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining accurate school records, including daily attendance, to ensure the efficient administration of educational programs.

Safety and Code of Conduct: Demonstrate knowledge, enforcement, and modeling of all safety guidelines and the Code of Conduct associated with our school.

Qualifications: Alberta Teacher Certificate.

Background in STEM Field/education

Proficiency in Career Technology and Foundations/ Career Technology and Studies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Access to a vehicle and a valid drivers license

A commitment to promoting a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.

Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Verification checks

Passion and curiosity about how things work, willingness to learn.

Ability to stand for extended period times, mobility to bend, twist, lift arms above head and travel distances (between lab and outside open spaces), lift up to 25 lbs
