About Us

STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school in Calgary that opened in September 2021. Our junior high school currently serves over 450 students in grades 7-9. In September 2022, our high school campus opened a NW location located in the University Innovation Quarter with 115 Grade 10s. In 2023-24, we grew our program to 400 Grade 10s and 11s with a long-term goal of a full high school with over 900 students. In 2 short years we have created a culture of excellence led by a dynamic team focused on each student finding success in their learning. With a mission to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders, we believe every student can be successful in STEM and should have the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge science and technology topics.

Education and Experience

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

The successful candidate for this position demonstrates:

Exemplary, evidence-based instructional practices in math and science that lead to student success

Confidence, skill, knowledge and understanding of Alberta Program of Studies for Math and Science, differentiated instruction, student engagement strategies, and assessment practices

Commitment to ongoing collaboration with staff team in developing innovative learning experiences for students

Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents

Commitment to infusing technology into core curriculum where appropriate

Innovators mindset - willingness to take risks and adapt to new challenges and interested in acquiring the skill sets required to teach various STEM complementary courses and/or Physical Education.

Basic understanding of design & engineering, digital media technologies, and/or computational thinking

Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.
