Located in Calgary, Foundations for the Future Charter Academy (FFCA) is the largest public charter school in Alberta, serving over 4000 students in eight campuses throughout the city. We offer educational programming through a Distinctive Teaching and Learning Framework that has been developed within the Alberta context for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our mission is to provide a safe and caring environment where the four pillars of our charter, academic excellence, character development, parental involvement and staff leadership are valued and fostered.

With the upcoming completion of our new 1000-student North High School building, we are projecting to hire a significant number of positions to begin August 19, 2024, including:

Subject: Grades 9-12 CTS/Electives (New Media & Robotics)

Contract: 1.0 FTE Probationary

An Alberta Education certified teacher is required for a 1.0 FTE probationary assignment at the North High School Campus.

Responsibilities: Competently plan for, provide and assess instruction to students based on Teaching Quality Standards.

Teaching the courses of study and education programs that are prescribed, approved or authorized pursuant to the Education Act.

Regularly assess student performance and communicate results to students, parents/legal guardians and school administration.

Maintain a safe and caring environment that fosters student learning.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Educator, subject to the teachers contract of employment and the Education Act.Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the following qualities: A passion for teaching and learning and a positive, enthusiastic attitude;

A supportive and caring manner with children and a belief that all students can learn;

The ability to provide an inviting and secure classroom environment for students one with clear expectations, consistent consequences, and specific, articulated learning goals;

A belief in a structured learning environment where the results of our collaborative and individual efforts are monitored and guide the process of continuous improvement;

The ability and desire to deliver the FFCA program effectively in order to meet the needs of all students, while being prepared to meet the individual needs of children as they arise;

A commitment to using instructional technologies to develop his/her own and students proficiencies;

An openness to coaching and mentoring as part of overall professional development;

Collegial communication skills, including the ability to listen and the conviction that concerns and ideas need to be presented openly in an atmosphere of trust;

A desire to work in a team environment of partnerships among campus grade-level partners, campus colleagues and cross-campus colleagues, as well as with administrators and parents;

A willingness to contribute to school culture through committee work and extra-curricular activities;

A belief in continuous learning and a desire to continuously improve.Successful candidates will be expected to participate in FFCAs new staff orientation from August 12-16, 2024.
