STATUS: Ten Month, Part-Time, ProbationaryCalgary French & International School (CFIS) is a full French language immersion co-educational independent school, serving over 750 students from preschool through to Grade 12. Purpose of Position:

The MYP Programme Coordinator will champion CFIS International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme: to develop, implement, and evaluate this program in consultation with the Director of Teaching and Learning and Secondary division administration; to assist the IB teachers with the delivery of this program. The MYP Programme Coordinator will be a key member of the secondary pedagogical leadership team, as well as the Whole School IB Committee. The MYP Programme Coordinator teaches some portion of the course offerings in the Middle Years Programme to reflect a 1.0 FTE position overall and is the liaison between the school and the International Baccalaureate Organization for the program. Core Areas of Responsibility:

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Coordinator will: Develop curriculum and teaching methodology consistent with the mission and values of CFIS and that of IB.

Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning, Principals, and other CFIS IB Coordinators and academic leaders to develop program continuity from Early Childhood Education to Grade 12.

Collaborate with the leadership team on professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and learning consistent with inquiry-based and concept-based learning.

Research, keep current with and share best practices in pedagogy and student assessment.

Informs faculty of all appropriate communications from the IBO.

Collaborate with pedagogical leaders to develop program continuity within MYP, and in alignment across PYP and DP.

Provide IB related information to respective teachers, staff, and administration.

Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the IB curriculum by assisting teachers through observation and individual conferences to discuss needs, appropriate methodology, and materials.

Every five years, oversee the five-year MYP Programme Review (school-based self-reflection) and plan of action to address recommendations arising from the five-year review.

Produce reports on the progress of MYP students as required.

Ensure the overall academic standards and assessments within the MYP respect the IB assessment criteria and that students receive engaging and well-planned educational experiences.

Have processes and procedures in place to ensure that the quality of learning and achievement is monitored, evaluated, and shared.Specific accountabilities:

Develop an identity and spirit within the pedagogical leadership team, consistent with the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of CFIS.

Research and keep current with and share best practices in pedagogy and student assessment in a French immersion learning environment.

Support faculty in the planning and implementation of best practices within the MYP framework and philosophy.

Cultivate a culture of international mindedness.

Lead, coach and mentor teachers in the planning and delivery of inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary units.

Lead, coach and mentor teachers with the Approaches to Teaching (AtT) and Approaches to Learning (AtL).

Meet with Principal and/or Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure program continuity and revision of divisional annual action plans.

Chair and document MYP Subject Leader meetings.

Be an exemplary role model as a teacher.

Collaborate in the analysis and reporting of academic results (Annual Education Results Report).

Collaborate with Director of Global Education and Experiential Learning on interdisciplinary experiential learning opportunities and service action.

Collaborate with Director of Teaching and Learning on a professional development strategic plan.

Plan and facilitate professional development to support teaching and learning within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Education.

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Alberta Interim Teaching Certificate.

Masters degree or CAIS Leadership training is considered an asset.

At least five years of teaching experience.

Preference will be given to those with experience in and knowledge of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP).

The successful applicant will need to provide a recent Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work.

Skills, Technical and Behavioural Competencies Required: Strong planner and organizer with exemplary communication skills in English and French.

Model best practice of exemplary teaching in subject area and professionalism in dealing with all stakeholders.

Interpersonal skills that foster collegiality and the common goals of CFIS mission.

Work independently as well as being a member of a collaborative team.

Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and growth.

International teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
