School District 72 is looking for a temporary District Elementary Counselor to join our team of educators at Inclusive Education, who strive to bring the district's learning beliefs to life.

School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district serves over 5,600 students in 18 schools with a diverse range of programs that are progressive and responsive to the educational needs and interests of students.

A commitment to professional development and growth. The successful candidate for this position must have: A Master's Degree in Counseling (must include a 300 hour supervised practicum at an appropriate level);

Successful teaching experience at the Elementary school level;

A good understanding of the etiology of substance abuse and a torough knowledge of successful prevention strategies;

Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling services to students;

Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management techniques;

Experience and demonstrated skill in helping students with social and learning difficulties;

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, administrators and community agencies; and

Proficiency with related computer software and technology. We are looking for teachers who have an understanding and commitment to teaching practices that embodies: An inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the BC Curriculum.
