In addition, the SLP teacher can assist students in acquiring and sustaining/increasing individual skill development in reading, mathematics, real-world learning, and mental health and wellness. The program also focuses on engaging parents and developing student self-confidence. Summer Learning 2024 will be a unique opportunity to explore the use of diverse teaching and learning tools and employ modalities that engage students.

The UCDSB is now accepting applications for Summer Learning Program (SLP) Teaching positions.

Each school site will have two literacy/numeracy/real-world learning teachers.

Additional information for the positions is as follows: 15-20 students per class;

Successful applicants are asked to participate in two (2) days of virtual training scheduled for June 26, 2024, and June 27, 2024, from 4:00pm-6:00pm each day. Should an applicant not be able to attend, they will not be paid. Successful applicants must attend the mandatory full day virtual training, scheduled for June 28, 2024, to ensure consistency of program delivery across all sites. All virtual training sessions will be paid at the Con Ed hourly rate of $45.71.

The Summer Learning Program will run from July 2, 2024, to July 19, 2024, inclusive from 8:30am to 12:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Each day must consist of 3.5 hours of in-person learning from 9:00am -12:30 pm (other time dedicated to parent engagement and communication, co planning, and team meetings)

Staff will report to the Principals and Vice-Principal of the Summer Learning Program.Details of the Position: The program requires on-site presence.

Teachers will be required to: work collaboratively to deliver a quality program including documenting student learning and providing daily and ongoing feedback;

provide opportunities for parents to be informed and connected to the program;

offer observations and insights to parents on how their child is achieving and possible strategies to improve literacy learning at home;

take attendance daily and maintain attendance records;

conduct pre and post testing of students in reading.

Required Qualifications:

Must possess valid OCT with Primary and Junior qualifications.

Additional qualifications in Reading and Math are considered an asset.
