Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience :

knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment

demonstrated experience teaching all subjected areas with specialized interest and ability in Math 7, Science 7, PHE, Careers, and French 7

understanding and commitment to current middle school philosophy:

oTeaming - demonstrated ability and experience working with one or two other teachers to support a core group of students

oAdvisory dedicated instructional time with students to foster connectedness and positive relationships to support adolescent development

oExploratory providing students the opportunity to sample high interest courses

oCollaboration ongoing inquiry-based teamwork

demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies and lesson designs in the classroom (i.e., A Connect, Process, Transform, Reflect approach)

willingness to use outdoor learning space as part of the extended classroom connecting place and space

willingness to use district and Ministry data sets (ACT, SNAP, FSA, PM/RR) to identify student need and drive informed teaching practice and team teacher planning

demonstrated ability and commitment to Indigenizing curriculum using the First Peoples Principles of Learning

commitment and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an assigned teaching team

demonstrated use of highly successful assessment strategies in the classroom for, of and as learning

demonstrated experience intervening, supporting, and motivating struggling learners through a Response to Intervention (RTI) lens, particularly in literacy and numeracy key concepts

demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and adjust instructional practices accordingly through informal adaptations and formal IEPs (Individual Education Plans)

demonstrated ability to engage and motivate students in day-to-day lessons through the appropriate integration of technology

demonstrated ability to set and clarify learning standards and to establish effective classroom procedures and relationships

demonstrated excellent classroom management, behaviour management and classroom organization skills; experience with Positive Behaviour interventions and Support (PBiS) is an asset

demonstrated high energy and interpersonal skills

proven ability to inspire confidence and self-worth in adolescents
