Salary Range: $50,000 to $107,000 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Please Note:This assignment requires the teacher to work collaboratively with classroom teachers using a co-teaching/coaching model. In addition, this teacher will be using targeted physical literacy assessments. This assignment will be at multiple sites throughout the year.

extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment (Bachelor of Human Kinetics, Physical Education, or Kinesiology)

Masters Degree focusing on Physical Health Education, Leadership, Curriculum, or Mentoring would be an asset, or advanced university level coursework and/or accredited professional development in a related area

knowledge and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to the Elementary and Middle Years with Secondary being an asset

minimum of 5 years of demonstrated excellence as an elementary and/or middle physical health education teacher with secondary experience being an asset

excellent classroom management, behavioural management, and organizational skills

demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive physical literacy and the development of a comprehensive physical literacy program

willingness to utilize a Coaching Model to provide expertise in movement to K to 8 Teachers

ability to provide practicable resources to K to Grade 8 teachers

ability to build, apply, and gather data from pre and post physical literacy assessments

demonstrated knowledge of effective assessment, including formative, student-self, peer, and summative assessment

willingness to collaborate with Learning Services to align instructional, assessment and reporting practices.

willingness to collaborate with the District Athletic Coordinator and District Athletic Committee to create an educational campaign on making movement matter

Experience in the organization, coaching and officiating of school sports at the elementary, middle, and/or secondary levels would be an asset

Demonstrated ability and experience in teaching and mentoring other teacher colleagues

willingness to undergo additional training in strategies for differentiating and adapting curriculum requirements to meet the diverse needs of students and be willing to share this training with colleagues

demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, students, and parents

knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in addressing the wide range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of children
