extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
demonstrated knowledge and experience of effective strategies to support the development of literacy skills; preference will be given to individuals possessing knowledge, training and experience in Balanced Literacy, Daily 5, Guided Reading, Reading Power, powerful thinking and Literacy Circles
training and experience in programs such as Jump Math, Number Talks and SNAP to support a balanced numeracy approach; use of real-world applications and hands on activities to support learning
demonstrated ability to use a variety of formative and summative assessments to plan for instruction and to differentiate instruction for individual student success
knowledge of and demonstrated ability in creating an optimal learning environment; addressing culture and the wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of students
demonstrated ability in enhancing student engagement through a variety of lesson designs, place based learning, outdoor education and including integration of technology as a teaching/learning instructional tool
commitment in supporting PBS and school-wide initiatives (i.e. The Virtues Project, Restorative Practices, 6 Cedars)
demonstrated ability to apply current brain-based strategies as they relate to learning, self-regulation, mindful behaviour and problem solving
demonstrated ability to develop CBIEP goals and objectives in conjunction with parents and staff and to offer learning opportunities to support the agreed upon goals and objectives
demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team to support student success
demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
ongoing commitment to professional development and currency in the craft of teaching
ability to manage a classroom-based budget
