extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment at the Primary level

knowledge of and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment at the primary level

knowledge, experience, and willingness to support the Indigenous Enhancement Agreement goals

a demonstrated ability and commitment to embed the Curricular Content and Competencies in a curriculum conducive to the social/emotional, academic, and physical development of young learners

demonstrated knowledge of and experience with applying effective strategies to support the development of literacy skills

demonstrated knowledge of and successful experience with applying effective strategies to support the development of numeracy skills; preference will be given to individuals with successful experience using Number Talks and Daily 3 small group instruction strategies

demonstrated ability to utilize proactive classroom management strategies, to promote a positive and effective classroom learning environment as well as throughout the school

demonstrated ability to select, modify or adapt instructional materials to meet the individual academic, social/emotional, and behavioural needs of students

the ability to utilize a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to show what they know (assessment for, as, of learning), and allow the teacher to plan for/adjust instruction to meet the collective and individual learning needs of students

familiar with E-Insight and MyEdBC for data collection and reporting purposes

proven commitment and strong ability to work with colleagues in a collaborative fashion to engage in shared planning, shared decision making and to develop a strong and caring professional learning community in support of the School Growth Plan

proven ability to demonstrate and apply excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents
