INDIGENOUS YOUTH WORKER CONTINUING /

CASUAL

Coquitlam School District invites applications

from individuals for the position of Youth Worker Indigenous Education for

both permanent and casual positions. As the third largest school district in

the province, we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtown

Vancouver. The school district has a

population of 32,000 students with approximately 4,300 teaching,

administrative, managerial and support staff.

Working under the direction of

administrator/designate, the youth worker implements

and promotes individualized and/or group programs in First Nations studies

under the direction of the teacher.

Required knowledge and Skills:

Completion of a two-year post-secondary

education diploma in child/youth care from a recognized college/institution or

Completion of two years of university

course work in Psychology or Sociology.

Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License

A thorough knowledge of First Nations

cultures, traditions and values demonstrated through Indigenous Ancestry.

The successful applicant will be a person of Indigenous ancestry in accordance

with an approved special program under Section 42(3) of the British Columbia

Human Rights Code.

Both

continuing and casual positions are unionized and offer $33.28/hour. Continuing positions are 37.5 hours / week

while school is in session and include an attractive benefit

package which consists of Extended Health, Dental, and Pension Plan (MPP). Casual positions offer 16% in lieu of benefits.
