We invite applications for the temporary position of: 0.20 FTE Grades 10-12 Senior Alternate English Teacher

Please note this temporary position will end on June 30, 2025 or upon return of the incumbent.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: Knowledge of and experience in teaching secondary curriculum preferably in an alternate school setting and/or special education.

Knowledge of and experience in working with outside support agencies (MCFD, John Howard Society, Mental Health, Probation Officers, D & A Counsellors).

Knowledge of and experience in liaising with post-secondary institutions (North Island College).

Knowledge and experience maintaining a Graduation Diploma Program.

Competence and experience in modifying/adapting curriculum and developing IEPs to meet student learning/social and behavioral goals.

Demonstrated ability to work with At Risk youth with behavioral, social, mental health and academic challenges.

Teaching experience in an appointed assignment working with students in an alternative school setting, particularly students with severe social, emotional and mental health challenges as well as substance abuse issues.

Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Completion of Level B Testing preferred.

Completion of conflict resolution training/certification is preferred.

Offer instruction in a continuous entry program with flexible approaches to curriculum design and delivery.

Ability to collaboratively develop, implement and/or oversee Individual Education Plans (IEPs), student learning plans and safety plans where required.

Ability and experience in helping connect students to pre-employment and work experience opportunities.Our educational team is committed to engaging learners to develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and social competencies.
