The annual pay range for teachers is $61,522 to $108,126, with placement on the range based on experience and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
Adam Robertson Elementary is a school with approximately 310 students in grades Kindergarten to grade 7. We are a school in School District #8 Kootenay Lake, and we are a part of the Creston Family of Schools. Adam Robertson Elementary School is looking for a 0.8 FTE Term Grade 5/6 classroom teacher. We are seeking an experienced classroom teacher to work with our team of professionals in delivering an educational program to our students. Grade level and buddy class collaboration is expected to continue on whole school caring schools and circle of courage initiatives.The successful applicant will have demonstrated successful classroom experience in an elementary classroom. It is expected that the successful applicant will work with and follow the school-based team plans for inclusion of all students, behaviour expectations, and continue to implement whole school wide programs related to school and district strategic plans. This position will involve collaboration with co-teachers, therefore exemplary communication skills with parents, staff, and students are essential. The awarded applicant will be energetic, collaborative and an organized individual and is committed to student learning. The successful candidate is expected to plan, prepare and present curriculum related to multiple elementary classrooms and apply current pedagogy to support student success.Teachers applying for this position must possess the following skills and attributes:
A comprehensive understanding of BCs revised curriculum, First Peoples Principles of Learning, and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices.
Practical understanding of the Circle of Courage
A demonstrated commitment to equity, reconciliation and inclusion.
Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and organizational skills.
Social-emotional competencies of self-awareness, empathy, flexibility, and relationship-building.
A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain rapport with students, staff and parents in a welcoming manner.
Proven ability to implement effective strategies to engage and support academic success for all learners in an inclusive environment.
Experience in designing and applying various assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress.
Commitment to professional learning with a desire to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies to support a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience.
Commitment to collaboration with students, parents and staff (both school and District) to enhance the school as a learning community.
Training in trauma-informed practices (e.g.: Complex Trauma Resources, etc.).
Experience with positive behaviour support, and a willingness to support the implementation of school-wide initiatives. Required qualifications:
