The Life Skills Secondary Resource Room Teacher uses a strength-based approach to teach students with identified moderate and profound intellectual disabilities with additional diagnoses significantly impacting functioning. The Life Skills Secondary Resource Room Teacher provides strength based individualized educational instruction to support students in accessing a variety of inclusive learning experiences. This teacher collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure student access to inclusive classroom experiences and student access to learning opportunities through participation in a range of courses offered at the school. Additionally, the Life Skills Secondary Resource Room teacher provides specific instruction in the areas of the BC Ministry Revised Curriculum and based on the students individual strengths and stretches, provides opportunities for students to develop the core competencies. This teacher coordinates specialized services such as occupational therapy and physiotherapy services. This teacher is case manager; developing and implementing support plans such as IEPs, Positive Behavior Support Plans and Safety Plans, designs and implements community-based learning as per the students individual strengths and stretches and plays a key role in facilitating student and family access to community supports and services.Qualifications Diploma or Masters in the area of Inclusive Education preferred OR at least three courses in inclusive education in the area of ASD, intellectual disability, and physical impairment. Successful secondary level teaching experience. Experience using a strength-based approach and a UDL framework to enable student access to curriculum learning in the classroom environment. Experience teaching students with identified Ministry of Education special needs designations. Experience developing and implementing educational plans such as IEPs, Positive Behavior Support Plans and Safety Plans among others. Proven ability to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, community service providers and support staff including education assistants and child & youth care workers.Modified Academics Resource Room Secondary Teacher

This teacher collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure student access to inclusive classroom experiences and student access to learning opportunities through participation in a range of courses offered at the school.
