Classroom Teacher for the 2023-24 Upcoming School Year

Founded in 2010, the Waldorf Independent School of Edmonton (WISE) is a solidly established and growing school that fosters an environment where the whole child (head, hands and heart) is nourished. The school is supported by a vibrant and caring group of teachers and parents, serving children from kindergarten to grade 9. The individual must be passionate about, and or interested in learning and implementing Waldorf pedagogy. In-house mentoring may also be provided. Qualifications: Bachelor of Education Degree

Must have a current Alberta Teaching Certificate

Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with confidence

Excellent classroom management skills

Creativity and independence in lesson planning skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Experience or interest in teaching music or art is an asset

Waldorf knowledge and experience is preferred, however training is also available.Salary and Benefits: The starting salary is $60,000 + per year for full- time role.

Employees working 0.5 FTE or greater are eligible for the WESE Employee Health Benefits Program.Hours and Length of Year: Classroom contact hours are from 8:00 AM- 4:00 AM, 5 days a week.

Classes run September to June.Responsibilities: Providing reports for parents during parent-teacher interviews

Attend faculty/committee meetings, school events, seasonal fairs, and in-service training as required

A brief note outlining the grades you are most interested in or comfortable teaching with - (from Kindergarten to Grade 9). Please indicate if you have any additional interest or skills in the following areas: French, Music, Art, Handworks, (Knitting etc) Woodworking, Cooking, Outdoor Education etc. These skills are not necessary for all teaching roles , but can simply be helpful in finding a most suitable role, or in the event occasional substitute teaching is required in any specialty classes or in an upcoming elective class.
