Edmonton Academy is currently seeking a Alberta Education certified teacher with a physical education speciality for the 2024 - 2025 school year.Edmonton Academy is an Alberta Education designated independent school that provides a high standard of specialized teaching to meet the needs of our students. All our students from grades 3-12 require teachers with energy, enthusiasm and patience when teaching and supporting their learning. Each teacher is expected to use multimodalities for instructing our students and must be able to differentiate their teaching and the learning expectations as needed. This individualized approach allows our students to achieve success in learning, despite their specific learning disabilities. All our teachers must be prepared to offer a range of evidence-based accommodations and specialized strategies within the course and curriculum area they teach. We recognize that overall student success involves meeting our students academic, social, and emotional needs while working to build their independence and resilience as a learner. Experience and confidence in using various technology such as setting up and using google classroom, planning google meets, using a document camera, etc. is an asset. As a team member, you will be familiar with the above.As a physical education specialist, you will be prepared to adjust your teaching to the students age and abilities for them to be successful, while holding high expectations. Many students have developmental coordination motor difficulties which require a teacher who understands differences and strategies for supporting individuals with motor and development disabilities. The primary goal of our physical education classes is to increase student fitness and skills levels, with the long term goal to learning how to achieve optimal health and wellness.The individuals must hold a Bachelor of Education degree in Physical Education and a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
