Itinerant Substitute Teacher in the Edson Zone Position : Temporary Full-Time Itinerant Substitute Teacher

Hours of Work : 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

The Itinerant Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instructional support and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher across various schools within the Edson zone. This role involves traveling to different school locations, adapting to diverse educational environments, and effectively delivering lesson plans to ensure continuity of education. The Itinerant Substitute Teacher will be based out of Parkland Composite High School and will receive assignments at various schools within the Edson Zone.
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will practice professionalism and maintain confidentiality across all schools within the Edson Zone. The responsibilities include: Follow lesson plans created by the teacher to promote high quality student-centered continuous learning.
If necessary, create their own lesson plans in accordance with the Alberta Education Programs of Study and the absent teachers unit plans and/or long-range plans.
Ability and willingness to teach various grade levels and subjects.
Flexibility and adaptability to handle change is essential.
Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
Adhere to the same roles and responsibilities as any other classroom teacher as defined by the Education Act and the Teaching Profession Act.
Communicate effectively with school staff, including administrators, regular teachers, and support staff.
Awareness of GYPSD policies and administrative procedures.
Ability to travel to the schools within the Edson Zone including; cole Pine Grove Middle School, cole Westhaven Elementary School, Mary Bergeron Elementary School and Parkland Composite High School. Additional Responsibilities may include: Preparing Education Materials.
Assigning classwork and homework including; marking assignments or classwork.
Recess or lunch supervision duties as identified by the school principal. Requirements
The successful candidate will: Hold a Bachelor of Education Degree;
Have a Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate;
Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS);
Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred. Experience teaching multiple grade levels is considered an asset.The Schools
