*Please note this is a Junior High (Gr. 7-9) Humanities Position (English Language Arts and Social Studies). Teachers do not instruct any courses in the Islamic Program. The successful candidate will teach ELA, SS, & other classes listed in the Alberta Education Programs of Study.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge of teaching core classes in English at the junior high level.

A strong knowledge of the curriculum and teaching experience in grades 7-9

Is aware and supports the Fort McMurray Islamic School's Education Vision document and mission statement

A strong ability to connect and build relationships with junior high school students.

Effective organizational skills and classroom management.

Exhibit a strong work ethic and open to new programs and initiatives

Understand and support district big 3 initiatives- healthy and active school, high academics and environmental stewardship

An interest in teaching a wide variety of electives

An ability to design and implement individual program plans for special needs students.

A willingness to incorporate differentiated instruction and response to intervention to provide for individual needs.

An ability to utilize technology as an instructional tool.

An ability and commitment to work collaboratively.

An ability to establish productive relationships with staff and parents.

A willingness to participate in the school community beyond the classroom.

A commitment to continuous professional growth.

A commitment to Assessment for Learning model.

Possess superior organizational and interpersonal skills
