Teacher - Grade 1 - 6 Classroom Generalist Teacher

Temporary: ASAP - June 27, 2024

Closing Date Open until FilledA classroom generalist teacher will work directly with students in grades 1-6, under the guidance and support of the principals of the assigned schools. This teacher will be responsible for teaching in different classrooms throughout a day, according to a defined schedule. This teacher will be responsible for lesson planning and assessment for each block of time they are assigned, for each class of students. Classroom instruction incorporates a number of different teaching styles (i.e. small group, whole group, one-on-one) and requires the successful candidate to be a regulated role model to work in a variety of capacities each day. A teacher must think on their feet, problem solve on the spot, and work flexibly and collaboratively with a team to create an environment that supports successful teaching and learning.

Requirements: The ideal candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:

Bachelor of Education Degree.

Familiarity with Alberta K-6 curriculum.

Effective organizational skills

Ability to build strong relationships.

Be able to communicate effectively with students using age-appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies.

Ability to be self-directed is essential.

Desired Qualifications/Skills :

Experience teaching elementary is desired but not necessary.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Plan for, teach, and assess the specified curriculum as defined by the teaching schedule provided.

Teach the majority of students within a class while the homeroom teacher focuses on academic interventions with a small group.

The teachers schedule will be determined by the principal.
