Teacher: Mental Health Therapist/Counselor

Probationary - August 26, 2024 - June 27, 2025

Closing Date Open Until FilledRequirements: The ideal candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:

Bachelor of Education.

Master of Psychology, Social Work or Counselling with advanced practice in the assessment and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders (or a significant completion of this program).

The successful candidate will have specific knowledge and training in school counselling and be able to support regular classroom teachers with specialized teaching strategies in regards to supporting mental health.

Providing training and support to teachers for students for student social and emotional development, anxiety and instructional approaches to build student resilience and independence is needed.

Deliver preventative best-practice interventions and related psycho-social development programs as approved by the Division.

Comply with provincial regulations and Division policies with respect to the provision counselling services and learning supports.

Experience with making referrals for therapeutic support and outside agencies who support students and families is an asset.

Track caseload data and evaluate the effectiveness of counselling services, learning supports and student responses to interventions.

Comply with provincial regulations and Division policies with respect to records management.
