The district welcomes applications for the temporary Speech-Language Pathologist position. This part-time (14 hours/week) itinerant position works closely with the team at Inclusion Support Services. The position starts immediately and is temporary until June 30, 2024 or the return of the incumbent, whichever occurs first. The position is included in Local 801 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Duties:

The main duties are to provide services to students as assigned, from K-12. This includes liaising with teachers and paraprofessionals to plan, implement and coach Tier 1 strategies; to provide direct support to students with intensive speech/language delays or disorders; and to conduct formal and informal assessments, including district-wide Kindergarten screenings.

Qualifications: Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology;

Eligibility for registration or current membership with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC);

Experience working with student-aged children, especially those with multiple physical challenges;

A thorough knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems;

Experience working with children in integrated settings and working with multi-disciplinary teams would be considered an asset.Skills: Proven organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to liaise between school staff, divisional staff and outside agencies;

Strong verbal and written skills;

Ability to work as a member of a team and maintain a positive work environment.Closing Date: Open until filled
