Our vision is to engage, inspire, innovate, because we are always learning. We are accepting applications for the following full-time permanent Basic Custodian position at Howick Public School, Gorrie, Ontario. This is a 1.0 FTE position, effective immediately.
Compensation Package Details:
Rate of pay: $25.10 to $ 25.59 in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, as outlined in the UNIFOR Collective Agreement.
Start Date : Immediately
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week with a minimum 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break for a total of 8.5 hours per day; 12 months per year. Shift work is required.

The Basic Custodian duties may include:
Building Maintenance
change lights
shovel snow
operate snow blower
clean and inspect roof
operate grass cutting equipment
perform minor repairs
conduct health and safety checks
service roof top unit
Building Cleaning operate and maintain all equipment
perform all minor and major cleaning and major cleaning as outlined in cleaning checklists and Standard Operating Procedures Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess:
the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
the ability to use a computer e.g., GAFE;
experience in handling machinery i.e., buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies;
access to a reliable mode of transportation; and
satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position. Note - A criminal background check will be part of the recruitment process.
