Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,300 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.

PWPSD manages one of the largest transportation systems in the province of Alberta. Each day, approximately 100 school bus drivers travel more than 14,225 kilometers in a total service area of 16,519 square kilometers.

Peace Wapiti Public School Division Transportation Department invites applications for a Temporary Full-Time TRANSPORTATION CLERK (40 hours/week) . Shift schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

Duties and Responsibilities

Must be able to effectively communicate with parents and drivers through telephone and 2 way radio

Create work orders and CVIP inspection reports

Create monthly vehicle and extra trip billing reports

Maintain bus advisory on bus cancellations or delays

Maintain vehicle, driver, pre-trip and hours of service files

Maintain transportation contracts throughout the school year

Preparing packages for school bus driver start-up meeting (August)

Maintain fuel logs and fuel cards as well as billing to various internal departments

Monthly filing

Abstract searches

Create monthly newsletter

Provide support to the Director of Transportation and department staff

Coordinate extra trip charters as requiredEducation

Business or related diploma and/or experience in transportation or school board setting is preferred The following would be considered an asset: First Aid Certification Experience

Experience in the following would be considered as asset: Student Transportation Department

School or business environment Planning or Logistics Information technologies

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient computer skills in various programs

Punctual, dependable and able to work in a team environment

Occasional overtime may be required

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergent situations

Adjust rapidly to changes or work activities in order to multi-task effectively

Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written with internal and external stakeholders

Clear understanding of policies, regulations, and procedures governing Student Transportation

Terms and conditions of employment are outlined in Policy GGG: Personnel Policy for Non-Teaching Staff. The salary range for this position is $51,108.72 to $68,397.00 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
