Clinical Instructor - PSW Program - Living Classroom

LOCATION: Various locations DATES & HOURS: March 2025 112 hours. Schedule TBD. The incumbent needs to schedule up to 14 eight-hour shifts to work alongside PSW students and monitor learning progress.RATE of PAY: $35.00/hour - $50.00/hour - determined by the qualifications of the successful applicant.SUMMARY:

The incumbent will support the implementation of PSW Clinical placements within Long Term Care (LTC) Homes for the UGDSB Living Classroom PSW Program. Clinical placements are arranged at locations within Guelph.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Represent UGDSB at LTC placement setting to engage with key LTC staff and facilitate the clinical learning of identified PSW skills. This includes managing student assignments per shift, demonstrating skills, and checking in with staff and learners routinely during shifts.

Organize and facilitate learning opportunities within the PSW scope and program learning outcomes, including use of mechanical lifts.

Hold and lead clinical post-conferences to support PSW student learning.

Ensure to support both LTC Staff and students through the learning experience by responding to any LTC Team questions/concerns and feedback about PSW students conduct and UGDSB PSW program.

Review and give feedback on Reflective Notes submitted to students

Complete mid-term meeting, per student, to review progress and SMART Goals.

Complete Final Evaluation, per student

Addresses any student struggles promptly, document attendance, and respond to support student success.

Connect with PSW instructor regarding any student at risk of not progressing.

Submit all completed clinical documentation to PSW instructor at end of placement

Respond to any workplace injury incidents, according to UGDSB Policy & Procedure.

Triages instructor and student queries related to clinical placements and forwards any unresolved issues to the teacher of the program or the principal.

In consultation with the Instructor of the PSW program, the incumbent supports the scheduling of clinical placement assignments. Liaises with organizations and supports orientation and onboarding processes.

Other related duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:

A Registered Nurse (RN) or a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)

Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a busy environment with a diversity of people and exposure to unexpected situations/requests.

Proficiency/familiarity in the use of Microsoft Office, Brightspace LMS

Familiarity with SMART Goal settingSKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

High level organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize work.

Must be able to carry out a client-service approach and be able to balance tasks with frequent interruptions and requests for assistance.

Excellent English, oral and professional written communication skills.

Experience with problem-solving, conflict resolution and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Effective interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Accuracy and attention to detail in collecting information and preparing documents and reports.

Demonstrated collaboration and interpersonal skills at a professional level.

Demonstrated commitment to uphold the priorities on diversity and equity.

Experience working alongside Personal Support Workers is an asset.
