CIC offers the Total Care Education System to support students to achieve their goal of getting into a post-secondary institution of their choice. Our Total Care Education provides services that can support international students to meet their Academic, Social, Emotional and Physical needs. A University Placement and Guidance Counsellor is responsible for ensuring that all students in their alpha group receive course counselling, academic support, guidance counselling and University Placement assistance. Job Responsibilities: Guidance counselling

Course of Study planning

Provide counselling and comprehensive information to students regarding post-secondary education planning, application and admissions to the universities or colleges in Canada, US, UK and other countries

Guide students along the path of university readiness and in selection of universities and programs, and provide advice and resources for research of the information

Liaise with university admissions to facilitate or intervene the admission process when necessary

Provide academic information and reference to OUAC and university or college admissions in support of student application

Conduct workshops and seminars alongside other UPO/Guidance counsellors to help students understand the admission requirements, application process and assist them in making the transition from high school to university studies

Meet with parents regarding academic concerns, course of study and university or college admissions and address their relevant concerns

Organize and assist in variety of events and activities (university fairs, visits and trips) to connect students with university admissions to learn about university studies and life

Other duties assigned by the Principal

Qualifications: Experience in a high school setting

Experience in counseling, mentoring and advising

Experience in working with students with diverse cultural backgrounds

Ability to multi-task in a high pressure role

Good team player

Excellent communication skills both verbal & written

Strong knowledge and skills in Word Perfect, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Power Point), Social Media

Education: Undergraduate degree required

Hours of Work Regular business hours

Availability during occasional weekends

Ability to attend Post-Secondary Institution Fairs would be required
