Description:

The centrally based Educational Assistant Behaviour works with school and central staff to support students with behaviour challenges in various schools in set blocks of time. These individuals work under the direction of the Superintendent of Education and the Special Education and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Consultant.

The Educational Assistant- Behaviour, works cooperatively with the Central Resource Teacher, the school principal, classroom teacher, special education resource teacher, and school based EAs to provide input into student programming by planning, coaching and modelling. The Educational Assistant-Behaviour supports school teams to implement Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)- based strategies within the school setting.

Qualifications: Education Assistant or Education Support Diploma or equivalent or comparable experiences;

Community College Level Behaviour Management course or equivalent; and,

ABA training and implementation experience.Preferred Experience and Skills : Experience working with students with behavior challenges at elementary and/or secondary student level;

Knowledge of and experience with the effective application of ABA in a school setting, specifically:

Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring an ABA approach,

Experience in working with a school team to develop and implement a behaviour support plan;

Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills;

Maturity in dealing with confidential information; and,

Flexibility regarding schedule within a seven-hour workday.MUST HAVE valid drivers license and own reliable transportation

CUPE Category 6 - $25.98 $31.02 CUPE (35 hours per week) plus benefits
