Northland School Division is seeking a Temporary Full Time Grade 1-3 Teacher to work at Hillview School until February 29, 2024, with the possibility of an extension. The kindergarten to grade 6 school is located in the East Prairie Mtis Settlement. The settlement is 35 kilometres from High Prairie, Alberta. We are looking for an educator who has successful experience in rural and Indigenous communities, school-based curriculum enhancement, and can build on the current strengths of the school wide and divisions wide literacy and numeracy program. This teacher embodies the philosophy that literacy opportunities are embedded in all subjects. Major Responsibilities include:

Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.

Plan and execute daily lessons based on short, medium and long range planning.

Provide feedback to students and parents in a regular, timely manner.

Champion Cree language/culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.

Support school-parent-community engagement.

Possess strong interpersonal skills and commit to collaborative-decision making.

Promote differentiated instruction to meet diversity in learning needs. Qualifications and Requirements include: Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.

Must hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
