School District 6 is seeking a self-motivated, organized, and collaborative individual to fill the role of Executive & Communications Assistant accountable for providing exceptional administrative support to the Senior Management team and District communications. This is a permanent, non-union, full-time position beginning May 15, 2024.

School District No. 6 (Rocky Mountain) is located on the traditional unceded territories of the Ktunaxa and Secwepemc Nations in the beautiful Columbia Valley and serves 3343 students in 18 schools spread over 270 kilometers along the Rocky Mountains. The 3 major centers in the District are the communities of Golden, Invermere and Kimberley.

The Executive & Communications Assistant will provide administrative support to the Districts Senior Management Team and lead District level communications including all media, formal correspondence, and crisis communications. The individual will be responsible for providing confidential senior level administrative duties; including handling matters of that are sensitive and confidential in nature, scheduling and maintaining calendars, and ensuring logistics and materials for meetings/travel. The Executive & Communications Assistant will support key District projects and initiatives, as well as prepare minutes for both in-camera and public Board and Committee meetings. Additionally, this position is responsible for liaising with School Board Trustees and with all levels of government.

The successful candidate is an individual who is outstanding at anticipating needs, brings a customer service orientation to interactions with internal and external stakeholders. A self-starter with demonstrated professionalism, superior administrative, organizational and defined communication skills. The successful applicant will have completed a Business Administration program, Bachelors Degree or equivalent education combined with relevant work experience in communications; a minimum of 5 years experience in a progressively complex support role, preferably in the public sector and be proficient at MS Office.
