KCDSB invites applications to fulfill the 1.0 FTE Permanent Religious Education Coordinator and Faith Lead to commence employment effective August 28, 2024, the term of this assignment will be five years. At the end of the term, you will remain on the seniority list and be reassigned to another available teaching position.

Position Summary :

The Kenora Catholic District School Board is a Catholic faith-based educational organization that undertakes a Christ-centered approach to learning, integrating faith into all aspects of the curriculum and life of the school. We are seeking an individual who gives authentic witness to the Catholic faith and who is deeply committed, passionate, and knowledgeable in Catholic education. The successful applicant will provide a visible presence and witness to the spiritual dimension of our Catholic schools and will demonstrate leadership to sustain and nurture the mission, vision and values of our Christ-centred educational communities. This individual will build meaningful relationships between the school system and local parishes.

We are looking for someone who can help us to achieve our board strategic goals and to help to continue to set us apart as a Catholic system that strives for excellence and works from strengths. The successful candidate will be someone who can work with the board and all of its partners to help us to grow in faith and to further open our doors of joy and mercy.

Position Duties and Responsibilities: Use creativity and positivity to keep youth and staff engaged

Guide the Board in actions of Truth and Reconciliation

Offer spiritual and religious experiences for staff and students

Provide leadership in the implementation of Religious Education/Family Life/Sacramental Programs

Be a faith presence in the schools and support in the classrooms

Support social justice learning and initiatives

Ensure practice aligns with Equity and Inclusive practices of the vision of the Board, that fosters dignity and respect for each person

Provide religious in-servicing to teachers in the development and implementation of religious programs

Provide opportunities for faith growth for students, staff and trustees

Provide liturgical animation at different levels within the school system, including Board meeting prayer

Promote involvement and participation in the local parishes

Liaise with the local pastors, bishop, associations, ratepayers, and the media

Develop/deepen awareness regarding social justice, peace, social outreach

Provide support to individuals and to the school community in times of crisis

Plan for the Spiritual Development professional activity days

Create resources and experiences for staff and students that are proactive and responsiveQualifications: Ontario College of Teachers Certificate in good standing

Specialist qualifications in Religious Education

Minimum of 5 years of professional teaching experience

Sound knowledge of Catholic communities

Demonstrates spiritual leadership and commitment in Catholic Education

Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, organizational, leadership and consultation skills

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Demonstrated excellence in curriculum and assessment practicesThe following would be considered an asset: Master in Religious Education

Extensive teaching experience, across multiple divisions and/or multiple grade levels

Qualifications in all four divisions

Successful experience working as part of an educational team
