Spring 2024 Grade 7/8 Math Tutors

$18.00 per hour/35 hrs a week

Mandatory Training April 29th , 2024 (9:00-3:30)

35 hrs a week May 1st to June 14th, 2024

Position Summary

Spring Math Tutors will provide gap closing support to students in gr 7 and 8 for six consecutive weeks. Within a structured school day, Tutors will provide direct instruction to small groups focusing on numeracy, operations, and proportional reasoning.

Duties of the Tutor include:

Attend training session

Plan and lead small group math instruction

Monitor student progress and share with classroom teachers

Qualifications,

Knowledge and Experience

We are looking for applicants who:

are learners who seek and apply feedback to improve their practice

show initiative

are currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and are considering an education-related career

are interested in, or have experience working with students in small groups to close gaps in math

can provide their own transportation to the assigned school (mileage not covered by LDSB)

please note that schools may not be on bus routes

have a current CPIC (or can obtain a CPIC prior to employment)
