TEMPORARY FULL-TIME MAINTENANCE III POSITION

(Plumber)

at

LINDSAY FACILITY SERVICES Trillium Lakelands District School Board requires a temporary full-time Plumber effective immediately, for an indefinite period of time. This position is responsible to the Area Maintenance Supervisor, assisting with the maintenance of school buildings and related equipment in the City of Kawartha Lakes Area.

Duties of the position include:

Working as a member of a team to apply skills and knowledge to maintain Board facilities and equipment in a functional, safe condition and include the following:

Carry out repairs, new installations and renovations on building systems such as plumbing equipment, heating systems and pumping systems, in accordance with current codes and regulations.

Troubleshoot, adjust and repair building components and equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems.

The successful candidate, although maintaining a plumbing background, will be expected to perform all aspects of facility maintenance.

Qualifications Required:

Secondary School graduation plus additional three-year diploma program equivalent apprentice program;

Must hold a Plumber licence, valid in the Province of Ontario;

Over three (3) years work experience in the building construction industry in the Plumbing trade area

Ability to demonstrate a mechanical aptitude with analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read blueprints including architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings.

Experience in making minor/major installations and repairs to buildings and components.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a crew, and to set priorities and manage workload.

Ability to repair and maintain equipment.

Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written orders.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of computer applications appropriate with the duties.

Current and thorough knowledge of related standards, practices, regulations codes and methods including WHMIS, Lockout-Tagout, Working at Heights, Hot Works, Asbestos Awareness/Abatement and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Hold a valid drivers licence.

Must be physically fit to perform the duties required.

HOURS OF WORK: 8 hours/day, 40 hours per week, Mon to Fri (day shift)

HOURLY WAGE: $40.53 per hour to start (min) - $48.97 per hour (max)

POINT BAND: 14

If the successful candidate possesses two (2) or more trade tickets and can provide proof of such trade ticket (s) and they are recognized as one listed in the Collective Agreement, they will receive an hourly premium of $5.76.
