1.0 Permanent Educational Assistant
Mactier Public School
Effective Immediately until the return of the employee The Educational Assistant duties of this position are likely to include, but are not limited to, working with students with autism, behavioural exceptionalities, physical and developmental disabilities. The position will involve working as a team member in a special education program, delivering alternative program goals, therapy goals, sensory breaks, toileting support, communication needs, and outings.Qualifications: Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field
Knowledge/Skills Required: Experience working with a variety of student exceptionalities including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities
Broad knowledge of a variety of support strategies including ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems, CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions) and Augmentative Communication
Demonstrated ability to effectively support students in transition and/or implement programming in consultation with classroom teacher, central behavioural support team and respective therapists i.e. speech, sensory, occupational, physiotherapy
Knowledge and respect for Indigenous teachings and culture
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based teamRate of Pay: $27.44 to $32.38
